Mission & Vision
Blockchain, the DNA of the nascent world of web3, has seeded the world with many new technologies, concepts, and paradigms; while many see web3 as the evolution from the world of web2 and the technologies that fueled it: PKI, SSL, HTTP, etc., we see it as a true revolution. The revolution of web3 is not as much in technology as it is in the shift from centrally-managed, centrally-owned services and infrastructure, controlled by private power of the few, to the world of decentralization, distributed control, consensus, and power of the many. At Degen Forest, it is our mission to usher the age of web3 with infrastructure and services that make the new technologies and capabilities accessible to not just the technocratic few, but to the masses of regular people who will ultimately conquer this brave, new world.
As any pioneer, we see the future peppered with unknown challenges, each challenge representing an exciting opportunity to change, to grow, and not to hold back. With change will come the fear and pains of the ensuing growth, Degen Forest is not just about creating technology, but about creating change through education, and dissemination of knowledge and by helping us all, the community, learn and grow, and work through those pains together, in a tribe of sorts. We see the world as becoming more capable, more armed with tools that put not just the power, but the responsibility where it belongs: with the individual, and from the individual to the communities, the tribes, where every individual contributes. We will develop the incubational environments and experiences for those that are not yet familiar with this higher level of power and responsibilities, and more than that we will deliver the ways and means to participate financially, safely, in the new economies and opportunities of this new universe, or even perhaps these new meta verses. Our focus beyond technology is on education and helping our tribe become successful and educated as we all face the challenges and the excitement of what is yet to come. Hello, my name is Degen APE, I am what people call a true Degen. You might ask, what makes a Degen a true Degen? I feel that the Crypto Degen is the modern-day rebel. We believe that web3 transfers the power from the entrenched power-mongers back to the people; sometimes we consider anarchy as a better choice than any kind of political society in existence, not because we love disorder, but rather because we see the current systems of control take over our lives so naturally. You see a phone, they see an embedded identifier with an umbilical cord to a matrix from which we cannot disconnect. We see a way to make money; they see a way to take it and choose what to do with it whether we agree with it or not.
Blockchain, NFTs, and Web3 fixes all of that. I’m not the kind of guy that wants to tell you what to do, but I want to give the world a way to organize itself, to take the power, but along with that power, the accountability and responsibility back to whatever society you subscribe to. I’m not here to take your world away from you, I don’t want to control you … the truth is, most of us would not take the red pill to escape our content lives … I want to simply open your eyes so you can be free; free to be part of those societies and communities you believe in; and yes, of course, to take risks with others equally committed to the same values and ideals. We don’t want governments snooping on us not because we want to be secretive, but because we want to be loyal only to those that pay the same price as the price we pay. Not just banded together by country, church, or race, but free to combine whatever attributes suit us: me and my apes, in our own jungle. I’m the type of guy who if I like the fundamentals of your project will APE in and never sell (not the best strategy). Loyalty means something to the true Degen.
I’m a true Degen because I am one of the early blockchain adopters who back in 2013 became a Bitcoin Miner, smuggling my first four miners into Central America to start hacking away at the code trying to figure out how to be part of this new world. I identify a lot, and I mean a whole lot, with the terms Degen and APE as you can tell from my passionate outcry, and when it comes to NFTs, none of the so-called “APES” I saw in the artwork of other collections feel like represented what a true Degen APE means to me. It isn’t just about being different, it’s about doing things differently so we can change, first ourselves, and ultimately our world. I am a very creative person, I create tech that doesn’t exist for a living, but I suck at drawing, therefore for a long time I had this Degen APE stuck inside my heart and mind until a few months back when I was done with the Prototype of the Tools Suite for the Degen Forest and SMSCash, my passion got the best of me and I got to work. I hired an artist friend and brought him over to lend me his talent, his hands, his mind, and his eyes. We sat down for many hours and did different iterations to create the base model of the APE. Once we had that, then I gave him the full list of traits I wanted on the APE, and 3 or 4 iterations later we have what you see now on the sneak peaks of this page. (I am still perfecting the layering process).
